At Bata/Bolivia, we did the following:
  • Transfer photos to a special folder. This was outside the scope of the application; the users can copy & paste in Windows Explorer, use the digital camera, and use software like the freeware IrfanView to do some photo manipulation.
  • In the database, have a field that contains only the filename of the picture. Note: You should NOT use General fields, they have several problems.
  • For reports, we use Excel reports; we insert the image into the Excel spreadsheet. However, for Visual FoxPro reports (if I remember correctly), you can use an image on the report, and, for the "Fieldname", use the field that contains the filename of the image.
