I read about the things you went through and I guess that there must must have been hard times. Perhaps Naomi still has problems. Yes I read the threads about her and I really hope that she gets all the help that she needs.

But it's been a while since the Naomi episode and what happened to Mike. So lots of things could have happened with Naomi. For example perhaps Naomi has been getting professional help in the meantime. Perhaps not but nothing leads me to believe that. I read some things over here but perhaps there's been some information in a thread that changed track over time. It seems to happen more and more over here. So my fault if important information concerning Naomi appeared and I did'nt read it.

Still this place (UT) is for developers that want to help other developers. So far I have'nt seen many over here that have PHD or MD in their signature.

I guess there's no harm in trying to boost someone and trying to give them basic help. For example somebody saying that he lost his/her job. It's ok to give them url for places where they could find another job. What I don't see as appropriate for me over here would be saying to that hypothetical person "Told you so before. You're so stupid I told ya that VFP's jobs were declining. In the end you got what you deserved. You're so stupid..."

Perhaps what you went through is similar to what Naomi is going through but it ends there. Similar. That's why I wrote "Touchy situation" in my reply. Perhaps you can give basic help but can you really do more that? Only you know.

So again that's why I mentioned that this help should remain private.

By the way thanks for that reply. I appreciate being able to share opinions with someone and being able to do it without being called a girl and after that being put on your twit filter so I can't reply back <g>

Unless you already put me on your twit filter? I hope not because I'll need your help eventuallt in .net ;-)

>It looks now like we're getting into a touchy situation. Perhaps Mike was right but to me it does'nt look like it in this thread. I don't think enough informations were provided by Naomi to let us think that she really deserved the reply she got from Mike.

>I assume that you have more information than many of us have over here. So perhaps YOU can say that Mike is right. Can you say that because of private conversations you had with Naomi? If that's the case don't you think that it should remain private?

>It's not like talking about trivial discussions like which technology is better. When dealing with people I think you should be more careful. Private is Private it's not just a matter of wanting to be right at all price.

>To me it looks a bit like that. It looks like you're saying "Yes Mike is right because I know so and don't push me because I'll tell all".

>It doesn't take a rocket scientist (or so-called "private" stuff) to know what is pretty obvious (just read all the post from new years day, a year ago), and that Mike Cole's comments are dead-on and hardly in dispute. I don't know anything more than anyone else does. Mike Cole is talking about accountability and responsibility, plain and simple. I have zero against Peter D., but it is quite apparent that he has an excessive 'soft spot' for someone here...and so when I see certain replies, I just have to sit back and chuckle.

>A few months ago I tried to give Mike Beane some strong advice - whether he actually tried to take steps, I have no idea. I took a small risk and told everyone the truth, that I have huge bouts of depression, and sought help...and practically begged him to do the same. I have a wife and family members who needed me and counted on me. Mike Beane has the same.
>
>Mark my words, when and if Mike Beane comes back here (I hope he does), I will encourage him as much as I can to be the best he can be (trust me, I actually PRAYED for his life the other night), but I also won't hestitate to give him the online bejeezus-slap that he needs, for attempting to take the coward's way out. You bring kids into this world, you goddamn well have a responsibility to be a leader for them. I see all this whining, this "woe is me" crap, and I can actually taste my own bile. There's zero poetic about "Go in peace, young child"....but there's something admirable about dropping a few f-bombs on "errant genes".
