>>Just because one Muslim blows him/herself up and kills a whole lot of people doesn't mean that all Muslims are about to do the same. Not too long ago the . . .
>
>"Not long ago", get real, that was 750 years ago -- and in response to Muslim incursions into formerly Christian territory! If you haven't realized things have evolved with Christianity and the Western world in the last 3/4 millennium you need to take a break go read some history.

Get real? I know enough of the history of mankind to realize that 750 years is a very short time. But if you want more recent examples, you don't need to reach far. The most creative torturers where the Christian religious leaders and their lot during the Inquisition, which continued in some form or another until the 19th century. To get a good idea of Christian violence in that period, go see the Torture Museum in Amsterdam. Murderous violence continues today, whether it is someone shooting Planned Parenthood buildings and staff or forcing suicide on their own lot and shooting at cops (Waco, Guyana)

If Vatican (for example) today was as powerful of a political institution as it was "just a short while ago", we might well still have implicit Christian religious wars raging on.

My point, however, is not that religion in itself incites violence -- rather, it is the politicians or other powerful leaders that use religion for their own purposes, and unfortunately violence is often one of the tools of that trade.
