Well, if you look at historical time lines, Islam became a religion some 600 years after Jesus. 600 years ago Christian powers were rampaging throughout the world, raping and torturing and robbing and burning and killing totally innocent people, who just happened to be of a different religious persuasion. And it wasn't just some zealots doing this, it was the official policy of the Vatican (Crusades, Inquisitions, ...).

Not that the "less evolved religion due to later start" -argument would justify violence. After all, one of the key tenets of Muslim religion is "Exhortation to Desist from Evil", which instructs all Muslims to refrain from vice and from evil actions and to encourage others to do the same. It would seem to me that blowing up yourself in order to blow up as many other people as possibly would go directly against this tenet, just like the 6th Commandmend would instruct the Christians.
