>>There may be a cultural difference here. Perhaps advicing someone in a public forum to seek counseling is acceptable (appropriate) in a society where almost everyone is said to have a counselor or shrink. Perhaps in that society there's also no image problem when searching a job. Perhaps it's even a positive thing in such a society. Perhaps the U.S. is such a society indeed. The Netherlands are not such a country and I think neither is Russia, where Naomi grew up.

Maybe, but I recall that Naomi was probably the first who called the police in Mike Beane's case. That is an indication to me that, although she may be down at times, she's not out of control of things. She also obviously still cares about other people. Really depressed people stopped really caring about others.

It is also a fact that it's almost always in vain to tell someone who's really depressed to go and seek help and it is my hunch that this is even more true for communication on a forum.

Thinking of it, it is a shame that while Naomi was among those who called the police she got criticized so heavilly in the same thread. Did you all already give her a compliment for that action, within only some minutes?
