Ever heard of a wood-slick coming ashore? Well all along the south coast here the strand line is strewn with washed up timber:

"Worthing beach has been shut to allow heavy machinery to remove the timber which has come ashore from the Greek-registered Ice Prince.

The ship sank about 26 miles (42km) off the coast after a storm. ..."

This applies to 10 miles east at Brighton here too. It sounds like a beachcomber's dream but the councils and police and "stewards" are all down there guarding the wood, and 1,000s of ££ fines are threatened for any takers. SO a beachcomber isn't even allowed on the beaches at the mo, to look for bona fide flotsam.

And just when we've recently got a vegetable allotment and could do with some timber to build a shed, make raised beds with, etc. It's heartbreaking!
