I can't vouch for the way others treat women. If you examined my life, I'm sure you'd approve of my treatment of women - that is except for the leadership thing.

I really don't appreciate it when others transfer the poor treatment of women by other religions to me - that's not the way I am and that's not the way anyone in my church is. In fact, we're counseling a man right now who has verbally abused his wife. If he does not respond to counsel and his abuse continues, he will be asked to leave the church. We take the command to love our wives very seriously.

Again, I don't expect you or others to understand that given the historical data you have - just hope you can understand not every Christian (or religious group) treats women with disdain.

>What bothers me about that statement is not that I don't understand it, in fact I believe you mean everything you wrote. What bothers me is that it is very similar to the view on women expressed by Muslims yet look at the restrictions placed on them given their exulted status.

>>No, you may not conclude that. Women are to be put on a pedestal - treated with the utmost respect and dignity. Just as it pertains to leadership in the home and the church, men are required to fulfill that role. As I've stated (many times) before, this does not mean women are less valuable than men or that women are to be treated as though they are worthless.
