I have never used a TV DVD recorder but I assume it work like a VCR where you output your video from the cable box into the DVD recorder. The HD programs will be recorded in standard definition onto the DVD.
It will make not difference if the recorder has 1080i upconversion for recording, that is a play back function that takes standard definition DVD and converts the signal to 1080i which depending on the device can make DVDs look somewhat better but not close to a native HD source.
>I want to buy a TV DVD recorder that will allow me to record TV HD programs (Comcast HD TV) and play them on a non-HD DVD player. What kind of TV DVD recorder do I need? I see ads in Best Buy for DVD recorder that says "1080i upconversion". Would this work?
