I agree with Bo, if your laptop can support a USB flash drive that's a simpler/better way to go.

If you're using CD-RWs (can be written to multiple times), typically you "format" these at first use so they can make use of "packet writing". When you do that, an inserted CD-RW appears just like another hard drive (or small USB drive), and you can read/write to it with standard Windows or VFP commands.
