They had a documentary some years ago (before LBJ passed away). In it LBJ describes his first two campaigns running for political office. The first time he ran for public office he lost by a large number. In fact more votes were cast then the number of registered voters!

Further investigation reveled that the old time Texas politician LBJ ran against used lots of dirty tricks. The reason the old time politico won was simple. Nearly every dead voter in the history of the county had voted for him as well as a few that were living. LBJ said, “The next time I ran for office I made sure that I had more dead voters than the opponent!”

I have many LBJ stories that indicate the type of man he was. As a Vietnam vet and human being I dislike him for his belief in the domino theory and what it created. LBJ left 58,000 dead American troops and helped to eliminate 3 million Vietnamese civilians.

I do believe that LBJ as president was able to unite both sides of the house to improve social conditions in our country. I know of no other president who could accomplish such things. One can only imagine how LBJ convinced those that opposed his views to vote his way.

>I know good ol' Barry Goldwater called him 'the crookedest sob in politics' - and that was while Lyndon Johnson and a whole host of others were still around <g>

>I think one of history's great ironies is that what Joe Kennedy did in the 60 election couldn't have happened to a more appropriate opponent <s>

>>The list of 200. Sammy Davis Jr. was on the list. Anyone on that list of Nixon's was audited by the IRS, for starters. Such a loving person was Mr. Nixon. Remember how he was forced by the Quaker Church to resign?

>>>Are you too young to remember Nixon's enemies list? When it came out the people who were really offended were the ones who were left off <bg>

>>>>Went back and looked up the last conversations I had with these people. Here are the basic reasons I chose not to deal with them any longer. I know there was more to it, but this is the gist of what caused me to hit the Twit button:
>>>>
>>>>Denis Chasse: Inane passive-aggressive comments. Just got tired of the insults dressed up in childish wit.
>>>>Evan Delay: Extreme liberal views bothered me at first. The anit-USA condescending attitute clinched it.
>>>>Jean Laeremans: Just got tired of his attitude. Always attacking and being smug about it.
>>>>Chris McCandless: Incredibly condescending and insulting.
>>>>Naomi Nosonovsky: Weary of trying to communicate with her. She is never wrong. It's always someone else's fault.
>>>>John Ryan: I can't really tell why. We disagreed a lot, but didn't see anything too heavy.
>>>>Terry Thurber: Oh my God. I can't even begin on this guy. Or girl, I never really knew. What a shmuck.
>>>>Peter De Valença: Very tiring to read. Same thin arguments over and over. The Great Thin-Skinned White Knight.
>>>>
>>>>I was actually surprised at some people who are not on my list.

>>>>Ok, bring mine on. I'm sure I'm on a filter or two. If I can dish it out, then I better be able to take it too. Oh, wait. Those people aren't reading this anyway.
