>The VFP setup wizard created a 3 disk set that runs fine when installed to a WIN95 HD. When I try to install to a Novell network drive, I get a message about a lack of long filename support and the suggestion that I re-install with a /F switch. This works correctly.

First, I never excede the 8.3 format for names of tables, DBCs, reports and anything else that may reside on a network drive or any other device that may not support long filenames. I set properties in the DBC for long filenames for tables.

The only files I will use long filenames for are anything that will be compiled into an APP of EXE.

This saves me much grief in the long run. Forcing automatic assignment of 8.3 filenames can cause big problems for tables in DBCs. Mainly, *file not found* errors.
