>I agree that this is a bad idea in the big picture and is a move in the wrong direction towards fixing the fiscial mess our elected officials have created. It does not surprise me the Democrats pushed for more low income aid and Republicans pushed for more business aid, they do represent those who help them get elected. If you buy into this premise that to fix the economy we need to spend $150 billion the democrats have a better case for giving it to the poor. Its a bad idea regardless of who they "give" it to.

If it is a child of taxpayer parents then the term 'rebate' works for me since there is something to get a 'rebate' from.

I'm not at all for a 'rebate' at all since it will I'm sure wind up costing millions or billions to process and taxpayers will have to shell out more in the end because of it.

I am absolutely livid when they speak of a 'rebate' to people who didn't pay in the first place. If Democrats ran General Motors, they would apparently mail 'rebates' to all citizens of driving age.
