For those opposed to this "fix" to our economy I have a suggestion. We should protest! When we receive our checks we should get together, call the local television station to announce our intent, and at a prescribed time burn our checks while we are being picked up by the local tv news team! Shades of the 1960-70 era only this time it is not your draft card you are burning. :)

Just wait until you have to declare the “bonus money” as income and pay taxes on it! Everyone wins - the people, business and government.

Seriously, this appears to be a reaction to the economic situation we are enjoying. Do something and do it quick. It might help international and national interests to allow us to think that “the problem is addressed and under control”. Just like Iraq. Action - reaction. Who cares about reality?

I would be willing to bet that the rich will do better than the poor during this enjoyable economic adventure.

Now bring on the Roman Circus - we have to get our minds off of all this. When is the Super Bowl? :)

>I agree that this is a bad idea in the big picture and is a move in the wrong direction towards fixing the fiscial mess our elected officials have created. It does not surprise me the Democrats pushed for more low income aid and Republicans pushed for more business aid, they do represent those who help them get elected. If you buy into this premise that to fix the economy we need to spend $150 billion the democrats have a better case for giving it to the poor. Its a bad idea regardless of who they "give" it to.

>Do you take as great of offense to the $300 per child as the $300 for working non-taxpayers?
>
>And a revolt that is pretty drastic, Is it safe to assume you have done everything you can under the current system, like supporting and voting 3rd party, speaking with your elected officials?
>
>Whats the plan for the revolt? Clearly it will require organizing a lot of like minded folk and I would have to guess we would be out gunned. Our civil libertites are not in the best place currently, that could also be a problem. Then again I am not likely to be able to take much torture so don't share the details with me.

>>Doesn't it sound nice to get some of our (US taxpayer) money back? Not that it won't get RE-Taxed next year and a tax increase will certainly make up for it.
>>
>>I'm all for overthrowing the government when I read..
>>
>>"In a key concession to Democrats, 35 million families who make at least $3,000 but don't pay taxes would get $300 rebates."
>>
>>Sooo.. our wonderful Democrats are going to give a 'tax rebate' to people who didn't pay taxes. Why the he$$ not just put up big(ger) 'FREE MONEY' signs at our southern borders, give free transportation into the country, and then give all illegal immigrants a couple of thousand $$ 'rebate' to go along with anyone else who didn't pay taxes (the Democratic fan base)?
>>
>>What an incredible load of sh@t.

>>I am serious - it is time to overthrow the government here since there is no way to legally un-entrench the ba$turds from the money machine (that uses MY money).
