The district my daughter is in has all electronic equipment banned. Yet every kid has them. If they are seen with them though they are confiscated. The first time they are confiscated, the parents can go in to the school and pick them up. If they are confiscated again they are kept until the end of the school year. Just about every student has one and they are ignored by the teachers (most of them anyway) until one of them creates a disruption.
