Since I seem to remember you have pretty good taste in literature, you need any books? I hav a pretty extensive collection of books on mp3 as well I gt set up for you to DL from my FTP site if you just want to lie back and listen ( good way to block out environments like hospitals and waiting rooms when it is hard to read )

email me if you like.

>That's very kind of you Mike. I also received the email you sent to Lynn. For now, I guess I have visitors enough, and Lynn brings me dinner every Friday evening (Swiss Chalet so far). But thanks for the offer. If I do think of anything, I'll let you know.

>>If you need anything, just ask and I'll see what I can do. I had my appendix out when I was 16 so I'd even come visit you to help break (pun intended) up the monotony!
>>
>>>Thanks to everybody. Just to set the record straight, she's my best friend, not my wife. But be that as it may, what actually happened is that I tore the tendons to the quads above the knee in both legs, and broke my right ankle in 2 places.
>>>
>>>The hospital where I was until yesterday, has no internet access. I'm now in a different hospital in 'pre-rehab' waiting until I'm ready to go into actual rehab. At the moment I'm not allowed to bend my knees at all. Physio comes and bends them for me each day (I have to be completely passive), but otherwise, I wear Zimmer braces on both legs. My ankle is no longer in a cast, but it's in an ankle stirrup.
>>>
>>>At least this place as an internet cafe. So I hope to be on from time to time.
>>>
>>>It will be another 2 weeks at a minimum before I can be considered for rehab, and then heaven only knows how long until I can walk normally (without the walker I will have to use for a while).
>>>
>>>Hospitals were not designed for people to sleep in.
>>>
>>>
>>>>The other day I noticed that I hadn't seen any posts from Alan Popow. Strangely enough, that very evening I received an email from his wife...
>>>>
>>>>Alan has been been in the hospital since December 19th - he slipped on some stairs and broke his ankle (in two places) and tore both knee caps. He is likely to be in the hospital/rehab for a couple of months.
>>>>
>>>>Alan's wife also told me that Alan's boss might be getting him a laptop, hopefully with internet access.
>>>>
>>>>I have Alan's wife's email address, along with the mailing address of the hospital in Ontario - for anyone who'd like to contact them, feel free to send me an email.

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
