Given the title of this thread, my point was that whomever wins the SC primary doesn't necessarily win the party or the white house so the significance of the SC primary is not all that great. Although it can rule out a candidate. Also with a large percentage of South Carolinians African American, it is not surprising that Obama, the only African American Democrat candidate, should garner large support there. There could well be a large emotional response and voting based on that. That has been mentioned by the media ad nauseum. It is not unreasonable to take it into consideration. Just as it is not unreasonable to consider how many votes Huckabee will garner in rural religious communities or Romney in states with a large Morman population. It is not racist nor does it diminish Obama's possibilities. He had sufficient support elsewhere to rule that out.
