thanks for your comments.
It looks like the California version of UHC is DOA.

>Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton said Tuesday that a mandate requiring every American to purchase health insurance was the only way to achieve universal health care but she rejected the notion of punitive measures to force individuals into the health care system.
>
>“At this point, we don’t have anything punitive that we have proposed,” the presidential candidate said in an interview with The Associated Press. “We’re providing incentives and tax credits which we think will be very attractive to the vast majority of Americans.”
>
>She said she could envision a day when “you have to show proof to your employer that you’re insured as a part of the job interview — like when your kid goes to school and has to show proof of vaccination,” but said such details would be worked out through negotiations with Congress.

>Edwards' plan is similar, he foresees an 'individual mandate' just as states require drivers to have automobile insurance, medical insurance will also be required.
>
>Problem is that you can elect not to own a vehicle and then not be required to have automobile insurance. Howerver, how do elect not to live in order to not be forced into spending your earnings on private health insurance?

>I think the public is under the false impression that their tax dollars, those that they already pay into the system will provide health insurance or healthcare for them under a Democratic President.

>>I've heard all of them talk about it to some degree, but Obama throws it out there like candy every chance he gets.

>>>No guarantee of healthcare. I think they plan on forcing Americans to buy their own health insurance, not provide it for them. That was Hillary's plan anyway. Proof of insurance would be required before you could be hired. You would get a discount in the means of a tax rebate. Terrible, terrible, terrible...
>>
>>I never quite understood this. So you can't work until you have health insurance first.... I know couple of single younger workers in my compnay who refused the health insurance benefit. So they'll be out of a job under her plan.

>>>>We're all for affordable healthcare. How do they intend to fund universal healthcare, if that's he's/her plan, and would that include those that are here illegally?
The American Republic will endure, until politicians realize they can bribe the people with their own money.
- Alexis de Tocqueville

No man’s life, liberty, or property is safe while the legislature is in session.
– Mark Twain (1866)
