>>>>Kind of strange. Got 2 laptops and a PC on the wireless network/internet. The two laptops are at 54mbps according to their respective wireless manager apps, but the PC is at 11mbps. The new Linksys USB adapter is a 54g, so I expected a higher connection. It is much further away from the router, but I still would have thought it would connect at 54 and just not process that fast. Just trying to figure out what's going on.
>>>
>>>What kind of signal strength are you getting? There should be settings on the router to only allow Wireless G (54).
>>
>>Great on the two laptops, but poor on the PC. Though, it says on the Linksys app that it's getting 48, the other thing that looks like a little computer with an antenna says it's only getting 11. Don't know who to believe. The internet connnection doesn't act really slow, but it is slower than the laptops.
>>
>>Isn't there a generic ip address I can use to get to my router? Couldn't find it.
>
>Mike already told you how to get the router's LAN IP address. But if you're going to change your router's configuration you should always do this via a wired connection. Just temporarily plug a patch cable from one of your laptops to the back of the router.
Routers are normally set up on ip 192.168.0.1 or very close to that number. The handbook for the router will tell you how to access the router to make changes.
