May be the case. Oftentimes names were changed for pronunciation reasons. But if she wants to look up in genealogy archives, she should stick to Boomhouwer. The name, although not previously known by me, is esp. present in my province. Perhaps Walter Meester even knows a Boomhouwer. He lives in another part of the province.

How about this one: http://home.planet.nl/~vreek012/borders/dirkuk.htm

Aalsmeer is only 10-20 kilometers from where I live.

>She says that that is the spelling. There is a chance that the name was re-spelled when immigration to Canada occurred.
>
>>Are you sure? Zero hits on that one. I think the name must be Boomhouwer. That one gives far more hits. It is also on Dutch Genealogy sites. It is also related to Boomhauer.

Walter's remark otherwise can easily been interpreted as a denial of the important role of the US and their many losses in WW2. I certainly do not side with Walter on this one.

The American army also participated in Operation Market Garden near Arnhem and Nigmegen The rest of the Netherlands was liberated by the Canadian's supported by units of the British army. Many of your fine countrymen moved here after the war. I know some of them personally. They are good people who make me eat cheese when I visit them. Then, there is my wife (A boomhauer)

>>>>>>>>>Typical of you Walter. I didn't write billions anywhere. Once again you attempt to minimize or negate anything positive about the U.S. Once again you refuse to see the forest through the trees. I never claimed the U.S. liberated Netherlands. I write, you read something totally different. Whatever suits your purpose. Your views are extremely jaded Walter and you are very close minded when it comes to the U.S. Very dissappointing.

Groet,
