>>>Minus 36C this morning with a minus 42C windchill.

>>Well, our below freezing streak ended this morning... the temp got up to 2C (36F) around 11:00am, stayed above freezing for less than 2 hours and dropped below again. Still, it's much better than the sub-zero(F) temps we had last week (let's see, that was down around minus 20C ... I don't even want to *think* about your minus 36C!!).

I was stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base in Secruity Service, at San Angelo, Texas. One day in April of 1966 Katy and I were talking about something to do. On an Air Force income of $99 a month, our budget was limited. My suggestion was we could drive to the Ice Cream store 5 miles away but we would not have money for ice cream, or walk there and purchase ice cream. We began our walk and the temperature indicator over the local bank said 90 F. We were dressed for that type of weather.

As we neared the ice cream store if began to feel cold. We purchased our ice cream and had it at the store. On the way back home it got colder and colder. The indicator at the local bank said 19 F. A little while later they announced on the news that the temperature had gone from 90 to 10 F in a matter of two hours.
