Howdy.

hearing his views on different technical issues related to SQL Server, etc

You mean the record/page locking comment?

my opinion is that he has seriously strayed from his areas of expertise.

He's a NET MVP who says that after 5 years he can write an app in NET as quickly as he could in VFP and it runs about as fast. He also says that even the biggest NET expert will continuously meet people who know a "NET something" that the expert does not, which was not the case in VFP. Do you agree?

BTW, I drove past a warehouse marked "John's Fireworks" last week and was tempted to stop and buy some paint-tin-sized howitzers... but I was with company and had to watch the opportunity recede into the distance.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
