The new treaty had to be ratified by the STATE'S parliaments, but essentially your argument still stands: The citizens choose their representatives and the representatives said Yes, so the citizens have implicitly said Yes.

However, esp. the PvdA had made clear during their campaign that they also want a referendum about the new version. After the election they made up their mind and changed position, in order to be able to form a new government with two other parties. Thus they have deceived the citizens who gave them their vote.
