Not the only reason, of course, but then it was never entirely off the table either. Just look at the difference between "protect our people and the land" vs "protect our interests" as the reason for existence and location of armed forces.

The money GW2B is funneling towards faith based organizations while cutting funds to public ones is not coming out of his own pocket, is it? It may not be front page news, but it is done over the last seven years.
