It can be really hard convincing those guys that a PC is a better cable tester than the $9.99 "tester" they bought from some cut-rate "Network World" outlet. I've had to put a PC on a cart and wheel it from room to room saying, "Look - the PC works great in this room, doesn't work in the room where you did the wiring, ..."

I've heard those $10K Fluke analyzers can do some pretty amazing things but I've never had a chance to play with one. But, I'd take a PC over any cheap tester, not least because in the final analysis it's the PC that has to work properly with the installed cable, not the test device ;)
