Try converting it to a sting. For example:
select distinct allt(baseclass) as descript from (lcVCXFile)

I also tried some string manipulation stuff, but it still doesnt seem to want to mix and match DISTINCT with a memo. Any ideas on how I can do this without writing multiple statements? TIA!
