He was incredibly professional and polite in person. I took a class that he taught on-site for an old employer back in the mid 90s. Really a terrific instructor. One of the best. He was also an instructor that went above and beyond in his teaching. If you had any questions he would spend his evenings afterclass going through anything you had questions about. He would help with specific application of the training and make recommendations. We had a group of developers he trained and everyone was extremely impressed.

>>Man, he had balls ... hope he still has ;-)
>
>Yeah, pretty much didn't care what others thought.
>
>>I haven't read all his posts, but I wonder how much of his being rude was the result of what other people had responded. Was his rudeness - to a certain extent - a result of that ?
>
>I've never met him in person, but they say he was not like that. Only in his posts. Lends to my theory that we only show about 20 percent of who we are online.
>
>>There was a time that TerryT signed all his replies to jvp with XX. Jvp asked a few times whether TerryT was a chick ;-)
>>Then, TerryT got 'carried away'
>
>I honestly never knew if he was male or female. I can see why JVP asked.
>
>>Apart from the content, his posts had a comfortable entertainment factor. I have enjoyed every post of his I have read
>
>I second that.
