My current position is that I'll not sign any petition, but I'll also not sign a contra-petition. Simply because I still don't know John personally, meaning I haven't had any interaction with him here. Might be interesting though, at least for a short while. :)
But Kevin, can you explain why this request is done here?! Did you speak to him? Is he still an active .Net programmer? Did you invite him back esp. in that section?
Can you indicate whether or not new fox_versus_net wars can be expected?
