We have a regiment from Quebec in Afghanistan right now and many of them died over there (78 so far), so we are informed of what's going on. As I've heard, we are in the most violent part of Afghanistan (Kandahar) We're asking for help from other nations (

Yes we are there in part to rebuild schools and infrastructure, but we're making very little progress because the schools are demolished again by the talibans as soon as we finish building them.
IMHO, the US should have finished it's job in Afghanistan before going after Irak (if it was really needed, which I still doubt). Now the US is stuck in Irak and I fear that the coming reccession will force the future president to withdraw his army from Irak, leaving the population to itself and in a situation probably worse that when it all started.
BTW, the current Canadian mission in Afghanistan mark a historic turn for our army. We were known before as a peace keeper, but we now have a offensive mission over there, thanks to our clone of Bush (Harper). I wish that we come back to being a peace keeper.
>Your comment bothers me because I have
many friends who are in Iraq and Afghanistan
doing exactly that. That news is never in the media though. They are building have rebuilt many schools, community centers, running utilities, building bridges, mosques, and libraries. Just goes to show how lacking worldwide media is. And they say Americans are not informed!
