Bear in mind, that not *paying* for PUTM does not delete your account. You still get a lot of the benefits, as Jay can attest. Consider that not paying for a PUTM is actually a relatively painless way for formerly paying members to express their displeasure (e.g. Message#
1204253). It is in fact the sole way they have of applying any real pressure on Michel. If a bunch of (non-Canadian) people threatened to stop their PUTM over a few dollars of tax, they could easily use the same tactic to try to silence someone they don't like.
