http://www.west-wind.com/presentations/subversion/

I've been using Subversion for the last year or so and I'm not going back to a Visual Studio Source Provider and the whole nightmare that entails.

I've used Vault for years and it's OK, but the Visual Studio integration drove me nuts. This wasn't really Vault's fault but the Visual Studio SCC implementation that can't deal well with shared projects for example.

Subversion is so much easier to deal with plus if you have it installed you can browse most open source projects directly with Tortoise. You don't need Apache to publish the repository either - there's a TCP client built in.

Definitely worth spending a little time getting familiar with. And definitely worth a few donations to both Subversion and Tortoise!
