>As for Jeff: he was predicting the death of FP long before 1995, making him an uber-prophet. Interestingly, his proposed safe haven (dBase) hasn't done so well... and neither has ADO/VB to which we were urged to flock by certain other prophets.
Jeff, among others, was fighting the wrong war. He thought it was FoxPro vs. dBASE, or maybe Borland vs. Microsoft. Those turned out not to be the important battles after all. The whole software world was moving on and we were still duking it out over the relative merits of desktop database tools.
I met Jeff once and he was cordial in person. That is something I have heard said about other online flamethrowers and in this case I saw it for myself.
Now Fabian, that may have been another story. He was so caustic that at times I thought he might be enacting a parody of an online jerk. He was definitely knowledgeable but the more of his posts you saw, the less you wanted to give him credit for it.
