That is exactly what I did (print from VFP). I did however have to create at temp table to copy records into as my end users create conditions on the fly and just appending blank records creates primary index and filter qualification problems. I also needed to create unique IDs for each "dummy" record in the temp table. SQL did not respect the filter conditions set on the fly in the source tables so the brute force "do while" "append blank" "replace" technique was required.
I think if I had large runs to do this would cause an unexceptable performance problem but then users printing 10,000 labels shouldn't be choosing the starting label.
