I feel bad about dirty tricks being used for a good cause - hurting the cause. You know the drill, if you want to fight for a cause, you must be perfect. It's your villains who have the liberty to use dirty tricks. Sorry, that's Western culture for you, such are the rules of the game.

>To make up for it, I think a day of fasting is in order.

To make up for it, I'll do precisely the same thing I do every year: boycott the whole circus, whatever that Super Pail was about. Eat my leftovers (just had some from Monday). And try to explain how charity is only the mold on the cheese that makes it more expensive - but doesn't change the nature of the cheese, it's still spoiled milk.

>But if someone didn't put your middle class sensibilities before those of the poor, and insulted you? With all your money?

>Maybe some day I'll have superiour principles like you.

>Until then, I'll advocate a national day of Fasting and true sympathy for the poor.

They don't need sympathy nor charity, they need healthcare, education, jobs. The whole system is wrong as long as there's so many of them. What will a day of fasting do? Shake the food industry out of its pants to reduce the prices so to make the food affordable to those who already have nearly nothing? Make us feel good so we can forget them the rest of the year?

And, BTW, I'm not saying I'm not giving any charitable contributions just because I don't believe in charity. Its absolute inability to change anything in the long run doesn't mean it won't help a few people have a nice day or two. But starting your sales pitch with "unless you hate the poor" - yes, I do hate the poor way the idea is sold.
