>I don't know if it is as true today, but there was a time when the Irish spoke just for the pleasure of it to see who was the most proficient orator.

Also called being drunk a lot <g>

I think there is a certain kind of mind that must operate at a minimum speed - much as a shark must swim - and can get bored very easily. Then it automatically seeks survival by creating stimulation in the outside world which isn't 100% real. When I went through it we didn't have computers - but we had adrenaline and a wide variety of pharmaceuticals. And we had what all youth has - the certainty that every discovery is a first, and every experience beyond the comprehension of those who have gone before. <s>

But I was so much older then ... I'm younger than that now

>>Reading your posts often makes me very glad there was no internet when I was your age <bg> Most of my rather eccentric growing up process and my often odd outbursts happened without as much opportunity for wide distribution. The Family Guy reference puts it all in a litte more context ( God I love that show )

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
