Well, we may have had one or two good politicians in our countries history! :)

I would not go so far as to say as did Tracy, that “They haven't even attempted to”. The Democrats have attempted to pass a number of bills which require the support of the Republican minority. In some cases bills sent to the president have been vetoed by President Bush, and the Democrats lacked the necessary votes to override the veto.

One such bill is the Children's Health Insurance Program. There have been two attempts to override the veto of President Bush and both have failed.

Seven years of a Republican majority in Congress produced no vetoes. More than 55,000 earmarks costing more than $200 billion, were passed by President Bush while the Republicans controlled Congress. Now the President has proclaimed to the Democratic Congress, that he will not allow any earmarks attached to a bill! Then there is the National Debt, which we pay $300 Billion a year in interest.

I would like to see all politicians work for the good of the country and not be self serving or tied to his/her parties’ loyalty. Two years ago the Bush Administration sent out a letter to Republican’s in Congress and the Senate. In it the letter stated that if the Presidents plans were opposed that individual would not receive any political campaign funding.

The combination of the Bush Administration and party loyalty have hurt the nation. It still appears that we have but one branch of the federal government – the Executive.
