># of lines of code is, at best, a specious argument. A seasoned developer who has previously solved other problems may wind up leveraging previously-written code - the resulting # of lines might be longer...so what? That doesn't mean it's "less easy"
# LOC has to be read in maintainance - which is one of the reasons I view the need of every method of an interface to be implemented and then this task delegated to a wizard as one of the downsides of "interface-heavy" languages. Partial classes are a IMHO necessary and nice approach helping the developer focus on the correct part of source. Somebody viewing type declarations mostly as help for the compiler can raise the same argument for those lines. (AS I usually use Hungarian notation, I see at least some benefit for the developer identifying variable types<g>)
