Chicago beat Washington 73-0 in the 1940 championship game. When the score was still only 7-0, the Washington player Malone, dropped a TD pass. After the game, Washingtons's Sammy Baugh was asked if he thought the game would have turned out differently had Malone made the catch. Baugh said, "Sure it would. It would have been 73-7."
