>We have Novell 4.11 on our server. Our order system is written in Foxpro/Lan 2.0. The server has crashed a few times in the last few months. The error message today was "multiple abends occurring". We are trying to determine if the Foxpro app has anything to do with the server crashing. Someone once mentioned something about an incompatibility issue between foxpro and novell. Is there really such a thing? More info about such would be appreciated. Also the server takes about four hours to remirror after a crash. We think that is an awful long time - should it take this long? TIA.

Rhea,
Our multiuser FP apps from 2.0 to VFP5 are working on Novell 2.2-4.11, Winx series flawlessly for years. And some the Novell 3.11 + FP2.x combinations hasn't been shut down for months and only shut downs were for upgrading mainboard, CPU, RAM, disk etc. We have seen many nonFP reasons that could abend (crash) a Novell. This shouldn't be a problem for you but ie: a keyboard layout changer com file not belonging to MS is solely a reason for a Novell system crash (abend). Original monitor.nlm that ships with 3.11 was faulty and abending at times. 4.01 login was faulty and abending. Nongrounded BNC cabling and/or a terminator under 50ohms was another reason and list surely much longer. And it's really awfully slow that a remirror takes 4hrs. and comes to mind it could be a disk problem (ie: original installation on LBA mode not physical values - we saw it works but at times blows with a keystrike ???). And viruses of course (ie:keypress on a terminal could abend the all system).
In short FP would be the last to suspect for me. Good luck.
