>The "industry" side of music is dismal.
As it, actually, always was. And it has to be, by definition. These guys aren't there for the music or for the musicians. They are there to make mone... more money. Always more, or they'll be buried.
>The thing is all trade journals and media covering either "industry" is part of that system, and isn't going to deny its existence.

>Of course, its surprising to see MTV tells it like it is. They're supposed to be all Punk, but we thought they went all Corporate. Glad to see there is still some punk left in them.
Well, they have to justify their own existence from time to time.
>Viva la YouTube!
Now YouTube really IS something. The technology with which anyone can make their own TV was out there for the last 20+ years, yet nothing much happened. The proper form wasn't found, there was too much experimenting which didn't spread and the system was actually stacked against the garage. The obvious obstacle was the distribution. You could make your own TV, but you couldn't broadcast it. You had to sell it - and then you had to make it conform to whatever the resellers (aka industry) thought they can resell with a profit.
YouTube just shot the middleman - and rightfully so.
