Bonnie, Thanks! That was the first thing I tried. I tried different dataset, different table, event a separate connection instance. It's as if the binding position is managed from this one textbox (and I do not do this--I do not navigate through records this way).

I've been looking at this problem for about five hours now. The only thing that works is adding a new BindingContext() and this bothers me.
