If you haven't started with VB .NET yet I really recommend the Murach book Visual Basic 2005

Very well designed.

>I remember there was some hangup with getting signed up. I think the license kicked in near the end of April. I talked to someone today about the potential of future employment. It would involve VB.net. So a good time to take a look at what I won.

>>That's about a $1000 goodie. You might want to check, though, to make sure they didn't start the license last April so you get a whole year.
>>
>>>Dang. I guess I got some work I should be doing. I won a Infragistics license at the user group last April. But haven't really done too much with it.
>>>
>>>I got lucky. The meeting took place the nite for the NCAA hoops championship game. Ususally there were 75-100 in attendence. That nite only maybe 20 made it. And I got the lucky grand prize ticket that nite.
>>>
>>>>>I've been playing around with Infragistics on the front end in C# apps. I really like their controls. I am most impressed with their grids and the appstyler.

>>>>I'm impressed that with Infragistics, DevExpress etc and .net vs OCX controls in VFP you actually get the idea these have been tested and are expected to work <g>

>>>>>>>The last 4 companies I worked for are all moving to C#.net.

>>>>>>I'm working on a lot of VFP projects now - both mine and other people's. Being a independant developer I can choose my development language. But I am designing exclusively against SQL Server backends and developing my .net skills as fast as I can. I hope to be able to continue to extend these apps using .net where appropriate for web, pda etc. In some cases I'll convert my vfp middle tier to COM and integrate it into a .net solution that will use stuff like Infragistics on the front end.

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
