In addition, the way VFP does this is much better than the old Fox 2.x days. In Fox 2.x, the runtime was not re-entrant, meaning that if you launched multiple Fox applications, each app had it's own copy of the runtime. In VFP, the runtime is launched only once and shared by app running Fox apps. This reduces memory overhead. Having the runtime files in the Windows directory centralizes their location and makes it easier for multiple apps to find them.
