Picky, picky, picky ;-)

Not to defend Microsoft (which they do very ably for themselves) but one thing I don't think we have to worry about any more is them dominating the industry. Sure, .NET and SQL Server are major players. But Java and open source, to name just two, are also major players. I don't think Microsoft is the only game in town for developers, even for those of us who have worked mostly or exclusively with their tools for years.
