Hi

Recently MS changed some practices of the Remote Desktop Client. In the name of increased security they no longer store the password in the RDP file. This is a major problem because you can no longer click on an RDP file and have it automatically connect to the terminal server without being prompted at least initially for credentials. Since most of my work involves supplying customers with hosted data base applications accessed via Remote Desktop I can no longer guarantee that clicking on a link in my web portal will launch the Remote Desktop Client and automatically log them in. So I had to spend a number of hours to find a work around. Then I discovered that the new MAC remote desktop client does not work with SSL. I use SSL and I have MAc clients. So what this got to do with development tools you might ask. Simply I am tired of constantly having to work around Microsoft's decisions. So I have become much more interested in finding products that work they way I want to work and to which I may have some input into possible features. I do not want to be at the mercy of one vendor or OS.

Yes I agree .Net is large and there are many interesting things in it. I especially like the fact that any net language can use classes from any other net language.

>>Does anyone have experience with Visual DataFlex? It appears to be a good possible replacement for VFP. It is nice that there is a free version for non-commercial use so you can try out the product.
