I think there is more resistance to data stored in DBFs than there is to middle and presentation tiers done in VFP.Agreed- foxheads have to remember that other developers are used to dealing with a database product and a development product, though they are converging- e.g. SPs written in NET. Anders H reckons that within 5 years NET will have better coupling between data and language (he even refers to FP as his example) but not yet. Maybe we should have done a better job of emphasizing this characteristic rather than assuming it was obvious.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
