I have been really happy with Backup4All. There is a free version and an inexpensive registered version. You can automate it to run unattended, daily or whatever cycle you choose. Personally I back up to an external hard drive. After a data catastrophe at the beginning of the year (my fault, not that of backup software) I have also been backing up to an offsite third party server, Carbonite. There are many other offsite options. The reasons I chose Carbonite are that it offers unlimited storage, is automated (set it up and forget it), and is cheap ($50/year, I think).
