I don't think that's really true, Tracy. People often jump into a thread and take it in a new direction, but often it is at least marginally related to the technical points being discussed.
Besides, this is not the reason John was banned. I just found it annoying because too often his posts seemed (to me) to be completely irrelevant to the discussion and served only to push his own agenda. I repeat though, that this is not why he was banned.
And regardless of my annoyance at him sometimes, I still believe that he was one of the more competent developers and as I said, before this all began, I learned an awful lot from him.
