Formset is fine, I volunteered to defend it here many times in VFP3 days, but then VFP5 came and I changed my way :), though I still have full respect to Formset. The main reason why I don't use Formset anymore, is because top-level form already gives me couple things (DE+generic methods) which I used to have in VFP3 formsets.
