You have to look at the parties over history and not at the current administration today. As I mentioned before, Bush and Cheney are NOT the Republican party, but people from overseas seem to assume otherwise.

It should come as no surprise that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican. In that era, almost all black Americans were Republicans. Why? From its founding in 1854 as the anti-slavery party until today, the Republican Party has championed freedom and civil rights for blacks. And as one pundit so succinctly stated, the Democrat Party is as it always has been, the party of the four S's: Slavery, Secession, Segregation and now Socialism

Although, in some areas (not all) it does seem like the Republican party of yesterday is the Democratic party of today and vice versa...

>He was? I did not know that. In any case I thought he was more or less party agnostic, working with anyone who would help with civil rights.

>>Only because Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice aren't running... :o) Most forget that Martin Luther King was a Republican.

>>>Until now it's only about the Democrats. I won't be suprised if the next president of your country is again a Republican. And HE is WHITE.
