>>What's he up to these days? I agree about him being one of the truly great presenters. ( I am still telling his joke about the programmer, engineer and systems analyst going down a mountain when the brakes fail on the car ... )

>And ?
Ok - so a programmer, an engineer and a systems analyst are going down a mountain when the brakes fail on the car ...
The driver manages to brush against the mountainside, bleed off some speed and finally get the car to a stop about halfway down. Immediately the engineer jumps out, grabs his tools and wants to get to work repairing the brakes. The systems analyst protests that first they have to determine the requirements and spec the repair plan, there needs to be a Gannt chart ...
And the programmer says, "Why don't we just get in, start back down the mountain and see if it does it again ... "
Another that I actually like better and may have heard first from Menachem -
An engineer, a chemist and a philosopher are arguing about the Greatest Discovery.
The engineer opts for The Wheel, the chemist for Fire. But the philosopher says : The Thermos Bottle.
What? the others reply. But all it does is keep hot things hot and cold things cold.
Yes, says the philosopher - But how does it know ?

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy
Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.
-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
